I think you should especially be excited for the arc starting at episode 47, which is a really good one. Once you get past those first two arcs/sagas though, trust me, things will pick up nicely after a few episodes.

This finally gives you the end of the story, and even has the epilogue at the end of the series as well. The Buu Saga had a lot of long episodes and Kai shortens this expertly. It cuts a lot of the filler and allows you to see the story unfold much more quickly. If you watch the movies though, you might want to watch episode 16 to 18 to give a better idea what happens between the movies. While its better than the Z version for the filler that was removed, Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters is a poor sequel to the original Dragon Ball Z Kai that we received a few years ago. Dragon Ball Z Kai is the best way to re-experience the DragonBall Z saga.
